Join the PAMN Steering Committee

We’re seeking candidates for six open seats on the steering committee of the Public Affairs & Marketing Network (PAMN) of national cancer centers.

If you’re committed to furthering your professional development and that of your fellow PAMN members, and to enhancing understanding of cancer research and care, we invite you to become a candidate for the upcoming term. It runs from June 9, 2022, to the end of the 2024 conference.

Steering committee members must have the full support of their respective cancer centers, as the institutions are expected to cover travel costs and time away from work. Please note: Each institution may have only one representative on the committee.

To retain their steering committee membership, members must attend the annual meeting and at least one other in-person meeting listed below. If you are unable to attend in person, virtual participation is acceptable. These are our next upcoming meetings:

  • Annual conference. The next one is in Atlanta, Ga., April 24-27, 2023 and the following conference is May 20-23, 2024 in Salt Lake City, UT.
  • Annual conference planning meeting. The next ones are July 17-19, 2022 in Atlanta, Ga. and July 2023 (TBD) in Salt Lake City, UT.
  • Biennial visit to the National Cancer Institute in Washington, D.C. The next one hasn’t been scheduled but it traditionally takes place in the fall assuming the NCI is accepting visitors.
  • Mid-year budget meeting and continued conference planning. The steering committee convenes (location TBD) and in the recent past the meeting has been held in January.

Additionally, steering committee members are expected to participate in ongoing efforts to plan and execute PAMN programming. These include monthly steering committee conference calls and regular subcommittee conference calls.

Rest assured, while the steering committee works hard, we also have a lot of fun!

If this sounds like a worthwhile investment in your and PAMN’s future, please submit your name and title, the name of your cancer center, additional contact information and a bio of 250-300 words to publicaffairsnetwork@gmail.com by 5 p.m. ET on Friday, May 13.

Thank you for being a PAMN member and for thinking about taking your involvement to the next level!

Most sincerely,
Your PAMN Steering Committee
